Windy is the forecast as another cool front pushes through Florida.
Friday afternoon we arrived, dropped the boat in and motored out to
the Atlantic to pole around some shorelines which would hopefully
be protected from the wind.  While portions of it were, we quickly
would get caught and shoved from the shallows out to the deeper
water in mere minutes.  We did see a nice permit in the cloudy
water that shot out of there when it saw us.  But we decided as the
sun began to sink low that we would be best to head back in for
some dinner.  We had a lot of good food and drinks with us for this
trip, as is normal.  Steaks, Snook, Chops, and homemade
empanadas.  The wind picked up in the evening and was gusting
over 30 knots, not great flats weather.  Along with the dropping air
and water temperatures, the wind only made it more difficult to find
fish.  Early Saturday morning we had a sweet shot at a permit, but
the boys up front didn't get her to eat.  We poled along for a while
before the cudas called our names and it was on.  We didn't see any
bonefish on Saturday.  In the afternoon, back in Coupon Bight we
stumbled upon a large laid up Tarpon in 8 feet of water.  Todd
dropped a crab to it but the poons tail just wasn't hungry enough to
eat that sweet crab.  In T's defense you couldn't tell which end of
the fish was the head so it became a crapshoot.  We headed in on
Saturday afternoon with only an accidental bonnet head and a cuda.
Sunday Morning the wind was still honkin but favorable forecast
were in store for early afternoon.  We fought the stiff breeze outside
Little Pine Key and didn't see any fish.  We then moved into No
Name Key and found some wind blocked flats that looked as if they
would surely hold some bones (The picture above).  Well we poled
the entire cove and tore up the cudas, but left without eyeing a
single grey ghost.

We relaxed at the trailer awhile, with the weather finally getting
good,  before we load up and head for home.  Another fun trip, even
though our quarry eluded us, we'll be back....
